Towing?

This may sound crazy, but I have a 2004 Blazer 2 Dr 4X4 and was thinking about using it to tow my 3700 lbs 1970 Chevelle SS to the race track occasionally. It seems from my Blazer's instruction manual, it should be able to tow the car fine with the weight limits. I only plan on doing this occasionally, would this be okay? I probably will be flat towing it, no trailer.

Should be fine, if you plan on doing it often or if its for any good distance then you should install a secondary transmission cooler. Cheap, fairly easy to do and it will save your transmission. I wouldn't even pull 500 pounds regularly without one

i think the problem comes into stopping and controlling it. if you have to swerve or stop quickly will you be able to stay in control. i tow barred a k5 years ago with a 83 s10 and it was all over the road

Back in the mid 70's, I pulled a '65 Malibu drag racer to the track with a '64 Ranchero. It towed fine but we had an electric brake servo hooked to the brakes. I don't remember where we got the servo and the brake controller was a hydraulic unit. Nobody uses those anymore as far as I know since electronic ones are so easy to install and use. You're going to eat brakes like candy but if you can add something to help out on the race car, it won't be such an antsy pull.
