Trouble with stiff steering
Hi Guys,
I own a 90' k5 with 33". A few months ago my steering gear box started to seize when driving in a straight line.. to cancel the effect i had to move the steering wheel significantly and with greater force.
Over time this "dead spot" became wider and wider - meaning it would seize when steering a little to the sides as well. In addition, it became more and more difficult to cancel the effect.
Nothing was loose and the preloads were correct so i decided to refurbish the box at a professional shop. the steering was ok after the rebuild but it is now slowly getting harder and harder to steer and the "dead spot" is becoming more and more noticeable.
FYI - I also replaced my steering pump a few years ago.
All in all i'm not very happy with my steering and starting to wonder what can be done to improve my steering.
10 years ago when i bought the truck the steering was like riding on clouds and now i feel like everything is welded together down there.
Should i just buy a new steering gear box and a pump? if so - are there any "high performance" or something like that that can insure better steering?
Thanks in advance, Yarin.

Looks like you're in to check every bolt and joint and alignment as well. Tire wear pattern?
What was the shop-finding on the steering gear box?
As it has been o.k. after the rebuild, why does ist start over again?
