Default Whats squeaking?

Ok So I got my 95 Jimmy, I noticed that I have squeaking when I'm driving. I jacked it up and spun the tire and listened and it sounds like its coming from where the CV shaft connects to the differential. I thought that was kind of weird so here I am. When I break it stops squeaking but any other time it's squeaking, turning or bumps do not affect it. Could it be that I need a new CV shaft or something inside the differential is going bad? I don't know how applying the breaks could affect this.... Help?

when you brake it stops, I would guess it has something to do with your brakes

Perhaps the squealers on the brake pads? Front brakes may need replacing.

So it might just be the breaks? even though it sounds like its coming from around the diff?

It is possible. It's a quick check to rule it out, and pushing the brake pedal makes the squeal go away. It's where I'd start.

+1
if the sound goes away when braking check your pad thickness
Generallyyou can bend the squealer tab away but then you get no more warnings

You could bend the squealer out if you are only driving to the auto parts store to buy new brake pads!
