Default Wheelbase width issue

Just purchased a 1989 GMC Jimmy and for the first time today I noticed that the wheelbase width did not look the same. Sure enough when I measured from inside tire to inside tire on front and back the front was wider, by a few inches. Seems like the back was around 58" and front was around 62". I am not a mechanic and a newby to the Jimmy world, but I am thinking this is wrong. I looked under the chassis and neither axle or any of the components looked "new" or recently replaced. A quick google search shows that the wheelbase should be 62.5".

So my question is, will this cause any major problems down the road, so to speak?

No, this is completely normal on s series trucks. Rear track width is narrower than the front. It is common to see people put 1.5-2 inch spacers on the rear wheels to even it out- mostly for astectics, but people say they notice an increase in stability as well.

Well that is good news. Now I don’t have to worry about spending money on that when I already have a pretty good list going. Thanks for the reply.
