Default Zr2 cv axle on none zr2 with lift

I can' remember where or when I read this but I saw someone use zr2 cv axles on a none zr2 blazer. I know the zr2 has about a 4" length difference, but would they fit with a 2.5" suspension lift and if so what are the advantages?

I doubt it would fit, and I don't see any advantages. The only way I can think of that you'd need a longer CV axle would be if you were using longer control arms.

Has anyone tried fitting the zr2 cv axle on with a 2.5 rc lift kit and NOT cutting/removing the front 4x4 case?

and I'm a little confuse on why to needs to be cut, to compisate for the new angle?

The ZR2 CV axles are 2" longer than the non-ZR2 CV axles. You are not getting 2" extra outward distance between the diff and the hub when you install this lift kit. If you try to use ZR2 CV axles on a non-ZR2 you will likely break something. If I recall correctly, the last person who tried this cracked his diff when he tightened the CV nut.

I believe that what you cut on the diff is the upper support arm. You cut it off so that you can install a longer support arm (normally supplied in the kit) which will lower the diff slightly to improve the CV axle angle with the lifted suspension.

Thank you. That helps out... I knew it had to do with the angle, just wasn' sure how much of a difference it does...
