Default Road trip precautions

okay so i convinced my parents to let me drive to cocoa beach florida to stay with my uncle over spring break. its about a 12-15 hour drive and about 930 miles one way
my uncle said i can bring a friend so my buddy mike is coming with me
we are taking my truck (2000 GMC sonoma, 4.3L 5 speed zq8, 77000 miles)
i just changed the oil with penzoil fully synthetic, changed oil filter of course, checked tranny fluid, checked rear end oil, checked coolant level, and check the serpentine belt
im bringing a quart of oil, and antifreeze with me, is there anything else i need to check before i go?

I travel a lot go from Michigan to South Carolina a lot about 5 times a year 900 miles 1 way takes me 15 - 20 hours. I would really try to find a friend with a XM radio and a gps lots of monsters and water. Other then that you are fine.

The only other thing I would check is the tires, you know air pressure and tread for wear signs.

And also look for bulges in your tires I've had 2 busted belts in mine this past winter.

good to hear, Im up for a 2400km trip in 3 weeks. I do long trips regularly (yes i know i drive a blazer,,shh)....i do a quick check over, usually change the oil (Especially for a 2400km trip towing a trailer)....check the tires is the biggest one, check all the fluids and just a general look over,,,,always take my tools with me...i changed a set of brake pads in a princess auto parking lot one year. haha......trip back will be in another 4 months and will be about a 3500km trip..(Damn gotta take my stuff with me to do an oil change while im away)
