Yes I went from the 3.43 to the 3.72, and the blazer tells me that she loves it as much as I do!!

Definitely an improvement. Cant wait to get the axle under the sonoma to see what thats going to be like

 

Comparison ov 4x4 axle, and zr2 axle. Both have 2wd rims.

 

So as winter has come and has hit its turning point, and life and moving has come full steam, I have hit a halt on the sonoma axle swap. The body and cab mounts are falling apart faster then I can repair them, and the rust is far worst into the metal then I've thought. The blazers transmission is going, and it makes more sense to strip and sale the sonoma, keeping engine and transmission to swap and keep as spares.

On a higher note, the zr2 axle swap is amazing! It's made driving so much better in all aspects!

Maybe if someone ever does the 2wd axle to 4wd axle of even brave the 2wd to zr2 axle swap, could add it to this thread, or even use some info on here!

 

I hate when life gets in the way of projects! I know the feeling all to well..

 

It really sucks. I'm picking up the axle from the mechanics this week, as well as other parts of mine lol, and I'm ALMOST tempted to slap it under just for the hell of it... but I just don't have (the time) to justify it lol... especially needing to get the work on the blazer done before my camper comes out of storage. So much work, so little time....

 

Sorry to hear about your Sonoma. It's sad when you get to that point and have to pull the plug.

It bugs me more that I wasn't able to weld on the body pieces I spent hand bending to fix the passenger side. Made a piece to go under the side skirt, and a big patch to go up the side with that darn curve at the bottom lol...

Maybe one day I'll be able to get one in better shape down he road, and finish what I started!

 

Well looks like the 4x4 axle will be going under after all lmao...

Won't be functional other then rolling, but it'll give an idea of space and parts needed... so I'll slap a pic or two when it's on!

This wouldve been a very SEXY stance... a lil heart broken i couldnt keep this one on the road. But will DEFINITELY do this if i get another one in the future!!

So this is what I can see:

Hop shock braket will be lost, or you will need to weld it on.

Fenders will have to be modified, inner lip will have to be fully removed, and maybe trimmed with a flare to cover the work. Can use 4wd rims to cancel the work needed for this.

Driver side ebrake line "SHOULD" be good, but the one going to passenger side will have to be extended, or purchase the 4x4 one.

your choice if you want to remove the bump stops from 4x4 axle housing. 2wd uses triangular shaped ones, 4wd uses round ones.

Brake line will have to be extended, or use 4x4 ones.

this being said, it's work that is expected, and not sure if much is needed beyond this. But to what I can see and tell, this is all that should be needed.
