Get a different transfer case, then you can run big boy drive train all day long.

That k5 prolly only had a 10/12 bolt combo. Not much better than a dana 30/35 combo.

Spline Count
27 - 28/30

Ring gear Diameter
7.2/7.56 - 8.5

Tube Size

Just sayin...

Didn't say it was worse, just aint much better. Damn sure not a dana 44 or 60.

We have a 10/12 under our 58 chevy mud toy, its been holding up fine. Also got a dana 30 that's under a s-series truggy that's been holding up fine.

Your "big boy" t-case isn't gonna simply bolt to a s-series trans. Buy the time you get the correct spline and bolt pattern adapters for the trans any money saved by cheap axles will be right out the window. That's the reason my truggy has a dana and my 58 still has the k5 running gear under it.

why not? i slapped a np208 right onto the back of 93 s10. probably the easiest thing i did on this turd.the adapter off the k5 along with the splines, length and rear driveshaft are basically all the same.

only problem is there is no where to hook up the vss so your speedo isnt going to work, i believe the np241 has the vss you need to make it work but havent really researched it alot.

im running the k5 blazer case and axles for about 3 years now. minimal problems. but if this truck is gonna be street legal might not want to use 10 bolts. they stick way the heck out past the fenders
