Default spindles and blocks

O.K ...TO SUM THIS UP...01 XTREME BLAZER COMES STOCK WITH A 1.5 DROPPED COIL IN THE FRONT, AND, 1.5 DROPPED LEAFS IN THE BACK..........SO IF I GET 2 INCH LOWERING SPINDLES, IT WILL BE LIKE LOWERING A REG. BLAZER 3 1/2 INCHES ....(IN THE FRONT) AND IF I GET 3 INCH BLOCKS FOR THE REAR, IT WILL BE LIKE A 4.5 DROP IN THE REAR..................SO CAN I GET 3 INCH SPINDLES AND 4 INCH BLOCKS???????

Default RE: spindles and blocks

OK to sum this up. I leased a 2002 Blazer Extreme in 2002. I already had a 2001 Blazer LS. I parked the Xtreme next to the LS, RIGHT next to it. Front fender on the Extreme was 1 inch lower, the rear bumper was the same height. I don't care what Chevy says, I had one of each and parked them side by side. Period.

I put 2" spindles on the Xtreme, then 3"blocks in the rear. It then sat level. I drove this 25,000 miles. Exiting a steep driveway caused the front spoiler to scrap (and it's black under that school bus yellow!. I had stock shocks in the front and gas shocks made for lowered Blazers on the back.

They wanted $11,500 residual for the Xtreme in 2005 when the lease was up. It was mint plus, no winters, but I said screw it (the lease was $160 a month with $3000 cash down).

The fall of 2005 I bought a 2000 LS with 64,000 miles that was very clean for $4700tax paid out the door. I put the 2" spindles along with a 1" spring on the front, and 3" blocks in the rear, same shocks. I put on 15x7 and 15x8 rims. Thecar sits as low as the Xtreme but the front has about an extra inch clearance (I haven't scraped it.....yet). I know how they sit, and how they ride, and in my mind 3"s is about the practical drop.

I wouldn't consider dropping the front unless you use spindles. I'm changing the rear from 3inch blocks to a 2" spring and 1inch block, more expensive but helps the ride.

To sum up, I had a stock 2001 2WD LS, a lowered 2002 Xtreme, now a lowered LS. If you want to "slam" it you have no choice but to spend the big bucks and bag it (IMO). Springs, spindles and shocks will set you back a little under $500.
