Will 235/70R/15 fit on my 1998 4x4 4dr Blazer?

 

i just got new tires today for my 98 4 door.. I got 30x9.5 R15. I think 235/70/R15 is the factory recommended size

 

i have 235/75r/15 on my 2wd and my 4x4. both 1998 4doors. so you should be able to fit those without any trouble. on my 2wd, they rub just a little bit in tight turns. on my 4x4, they dont rub at all...although the tread has worn down quite a bit. i dont know how much difference there is between 70 and 75 as far as height but it cant be all that much.

 

your gas mileage will go down with the 75's over the 70's if you do a lot of stop-n-go or have many hills around there.

 

it is five percent shorter tire. That's what the numbers mean.....

 

yes, the 70 = 70% of the tread width. So the sidewall of the tire is 70% of 235mm, versus 75%. Shorter tire = more leverage = less effort on the engine to do the same work = better MPG (usually, there is a point where you'll be going the other way).

 

I have a cheap set of Uniroyal Laredos (235/70/15) that I use in the summer and a nice set of Firestone Winterforce (235/75/15) studded tires on my Jimmy at the moment (which by the way are awesome in the snow!). I am searching for a good set of 30/9.5/15 AT tires for the summer; BF Goodrich has some decent ones but General Grabber AT2's are the best deal for your dollar. 30" tires are the largest tires you can put on a 2nd generation stock S-series without trimming your fenders or a lift kit.

 

235 75/15s are basicly 29 inch tires
