Default 31X10.50 with 3.43's

i've searched the forums and read all sorts of things about putting 31's on these trucks and near as i can tell, no one has asked this question before so here it goes. hopefully i've got this in the right place

i have a 2000 4dr 4x4 lt (poor thing is already on its second life, but it's new to me!) and i wanna put 31x10.5's on it party cuz it'll look BA and party because the extra clearance will help off road. i am aware that i'm gonna have to throw some shackles on there and crank my t bars to make them fit and that even then they might rub a little, but i'm good with that because like i said, it'll be BA. what i wanna know is how much of a dog is it gonna turn my truck into? i realize the zr2's come with 31's and go like snot, but they also come with 3.73 gears while my little truck has 3.43's and already doesn't have a whole lot of get up and go with 29's on there. is my truck gonna be slower than a ford ranger with 31's?

You'll be fine. Plenty of members on here who have 31's with 3.42's. You maybe notice some lag on the initial take off but then again it's a blazer not a rocket ship. lol. Also your speedo might be off a bit, so you might wanna look into a hand help programer so you can adjust the speedometer.

If you are drag racing the truck then you won't want them, otherwise it is fine.

I have 31's on mine. General Grabber AT 2's to be exact. I am getting 17-19 mpg.

I used a GPS to figure out my mph and odometer. The speedo is 2 mph slow and the odometer is .1 mile slow for every mile driven. This may be tire specific as was earlier stated, each brand may have a different height even though they say 31".

yeah like the other guys said, you will be fine. You can fix the speedo at a dealer since 31s are a factory option for the ZR2s. For a while I had 33s with 3.42s and it still wasnt a big deal. I now have 3.73s

My speedo is off 4mph @ 70mph with a Firestone AT 31x10.50. I don't feel the 3.42s are a big deal with these tires. I would like 3.73s to put the truck better in its power range when cruising. Off-roading 4LO will be your friend. Night/day. If I ever get a 8.5 diff for mine I'll swap to 3.73s in front. Till then, I don't care. Mileage is still 17-19mpg in mixed driving. I have a Dynomax catback, tuned up, cleaned up the throttle blade, and opened up the air box with a K&N. Power is good, but I always want more. I got into some big climbs this weekend and never lacked for low-speed grunt.
