Question mismatched tires

hey forum, so i recently replaced my 2 front tires on my 98 4x4 with used tires.

old tires were badly worn baja m/t's 30x9.5x15 new tires are bfg a/t ta ko's 30x9.5x15(but look slightly narrower and possibly not as tall by the slightest amount)

1 is around 50% tread the other id say 75-90% tread.

rear tires are the baja's at 50% tread or less

i know they say they are the same size, but should i be worried about messing up my tcase or diff with this setup, should i try find a matching set asap?

really, just how much difference is there between the two front tires? (talking about the diameter here) is 30% (give or take) gonna make such a difference?

measure them, and see what you've got.

personally..............i'd say no.

Just keep it out of 4wd until you can get the same tire all the way around. One manufacturer's 30" tire may not be the same as another. Very common for them to round up or down on the actual size. Usually down.

Yeah, last year when I took the "Little Easy" up to NY I had r70's on all around. I could only get my tires replaced two one week and two the next. I had the new tires put on the back first. When I did this I tried kicking in the 4x4. You could hear it slide with the smaller tires on the front. It got to the point that if I hit a patch of ice it would slide even if the tires were turned. Once I got the new tires on the front it was A-OK. So it depends on how much difference the wear makes on the difference in size.

ok, so can any help me find an equal size in metric? would it be close enough if i measured the height of my current 2 tires then use this http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html to match them up as close as possible?

for example say my current 2 tires are 28" from the ground to the top, and then punch in 235 70 15 into that calculator and says 28x9.25x15.

NOW the question is, is that actual size of the tire, or is that still plus/minus up to an inch??

or a more retarded idea is grabbing a few diff sizes and rolling them next to the "30x9.5x15" that are on there and see how much difference there is......do they typically expand or shrink after theyre installed?

wow, why cant they all just standardize all the sizes, this is dumb.....
