when i was at pick and pull the other day i missed out on a set of almost brand new ones. probably about 85-90% tread left. i was kickin myself in the butt so hard for missin out on that...

thats because your new ones are 235/75/15. the side wall is approx. 5% taller. hence the 3 inches. basically a 235/75/15 is a shy hair from a 30" tire. and you figure the tires that are on your truck now have worn down a bit from use. i have 235/75/15 on both my 2wd and my 4x4 and right now the 4x4 doesnt rub, but the tires need replacing. on my 2wd they rub a little bit but its no biggie. just a little on the sway bar and thats it.

thanks for that web site BTW. i will have to check it out. i just dont know about running recaps...but then again, i really havent heard anything bad about them either... i will have to do more research.

From my research before I bought them, I couldnt find any bad reviews about treadwright. I feel that retread tech has probably come a long way, they are DOT cert. Are green and cheaper. The rubber you see on the highway are from truck recaps which is a completely different type of recap. These you can use front or back. Only on trucks and buses can they only be used the back. some more links

yep!! looks good man.

BTW, the other reason that they dont put recaps on the front of trucks is if they blow out and the cap comes off, it normally takes out the hood/fender since its made out of fiberglass and sometimes they will even take out the air cleaner on the side. im still looking into them though because its not like there will be a lot of weight on them plus i wont be speeding down the highway.
