Tires and 4x4
Hey folks. I had an 89 Jimmy and with the older trucks i know you had to have 4 tires all about even treadwear or you could cause problems having the axles spinning at different speeds. I've heard the newer trucks are more forgiving? I just had to replace two tires and the tire shop said they think if i put them on the back, they will wear enough to even out with the fronts by winter...but now that they're on the truck i'm not so sure. The tread difference is huge. Should I get another pair in short order or is it not really a worry? I have a 99 zr2 and the tires are Cooper Discoverer A/T's on the front and the new ones are ATR's on the back.
thanks
thanks

When not using 4wd, you have nothing to worry about. You just shouldn't run 4wd on high traction surfaces (ie pavement) until they are worn in.

Okay thanks... i'll keep an eye on the new ones and before the fall if they're just not close enough then i'll get a pair to match. I have 5000km trip out east coming up in a month so i should have the miles to wear em in
