Default wider tires

I currently have a '96 stock blazer 4x4 with the tiny little stock tires on there and I want a bigger look. I understand that 30 inch tires will fit a stock blazer but I only hear about 30X9.5 tires. Will a 30 inch tire but with a wider tread width fit? I was thinking something like 265/75 or 265/70. Would something like this fit or would I have to get new wheels? If I get new wheels how wide could I fit then?

check the link at the very top, Hanr3 went through a complete write-up on all the tire sizes that fit and wont fit. To answer your question, wider tread than a 30x9.5 will rub when turning, since the 9.5 will occassionally rub. Check the tire manufacturers website to get the specific width in inches, there are usually charts that give all the dimensions, there are differences between the listed size and the actual size. Ex: some tires that are listed as 30"s are only actually 29.5".

But what is the widest tire that you can mount on the back of a 98 Blazer. I want to get wider tires on the back but to leave the size on the front as 75. I think that you can put 80's or something but not sure. Anybody have any idea how exactly to find out how wide the tire can get without modifications to the suspension
