So I plan on painting some old stock 4x4 rims(15x7) semi-gloss black with a gloss clear or metallic clear coat.
Now for the center cap, see below.(recently washed)

Should I also paint these to match or would you leave them?
They looked okay on the other stock black rims(15x6) I have but those were faded and not in the best condition so it matched. I looked a bit closer at the inserts and I think they look fine and I will just tape them off. Side note GM wants $33.42 each for the insert.

I will actually be using a paint gun as the paint is cheaper and should be faster so rattle cans are out. I'm thinking on going for just a gloss clear coat as the metallic is a bit touchy to get right and keep clear so I have read.
So after 6 hours of work I have everything primed.
How they started out as

Post sand blasting

After primer
