Default Rep system?

Has anyone considered adding a rep system to the forum?

Like if someone posts something and others find it useful they can +1 rep them, or -1 for flaming and the like.

Sorry if this has been brought up before, I couldn't find anything on it.

You can rep a thread by clicking the 'Rate Thread' button. As far as demerit points for a member, that is the provence of the Staff and is a feature only we have access to.

I don't think that the rep system is actually active in the admin panel Rich. I haven't tried to see if it would actually throw someone in the time out chair if we were to use it...

I have mixed feelings on using a rep system. The people who would use it wisely are often out numbered by those that would misuse it.

Yeah, I don't know how useful that 'infraction' system is, but AFAIK it does update. Haven't used it too much. And I agree about the possible misuse of a 'rep' system.

Or the system would bog down while you obtained "HEY ZEUS" like status.... sorry for the jesus joke, but seriously... This is a GOOD IDEA, but I imagine it would get ugly, now if it were like facebook and you can only LIKE or boost rep... that would be good.... but then again... someone will always misuse everything

I'm not sure how the built in rep system works, but I like the only + rep way of thinking. Reserve - rep for the mods/admins to assign infractions. That could actually work.
