Saginaw steering gear rebuild
Has anyone rebuilt a gearbox lately and could give me an idea on time required to get it done? I'm going to pick up some kits for the '95 Blazer as well as an '88 Firebird. Luckly it's the same kit required for both vehicles so if I screw up I'll have a spare.
I've found some guides made up on 4x4pirate or whatever that were pretty detailed. Even though I've rebuilt a few transmissions the gearbox seemed a bit more critical as far as tolerances and making sure things are correct.
I'm slowly working my way to setting up a rearend.

Guess I'm on my own until someone responds. Hopefully it's not worn beyond repair.

I went to the junkyard and got one off a 2003 ZQ8 for $50. Quicker response and newer box with less miles.
Only problem is now when I start my SFA its gonna get tossed for am astro van box. Oh well I have a truck it'll look good under.
