Default Oil Pan Gasket & Oil Cooler line 94 S10 Blazer SLT

Is there anyway of changing the oil pan gasket without having to drop the differential? Also, I need to change the oil cooler line. What do I need to take it off with? It looks to take a large star bit to disconnect it from the engine.

What type is your 1994 blazer? 2WD or 4WD?

Does it have the remotely mounted oil filter?
Why would you have to change the oil pan gasket? If that one really leaks then most probably something happened to your oil pan. You may have to check where the oil comes from.

Once I have your type I can look it up in the service manual

Since they said without dropping the differential, I think its safe to assume that its 4wd.
If that is the case, it would be nearly impossible to change the oil pan gasket without dropping the diff.

Like error said, its most likely the lines leaking where the remote housing mounts to the engine block. Very common problem to a stupid setup.

Default Yes to both

Yes it is 4WD and yes the oil filter is remotely mounted. I have the oil cooler line but don't know what I need to remove it from the engine. It looks like a really big star bit but I can't find anything close to it anywhere and maybe someone could tell me what it is and where I could find it.

The reason I am wanting to change the oil pan gasket is that the gasket looks dried and cracked on the outer edge of it. I do think the main oil leak is from the cooler line and a friend of mine said that the oil cooler line is bad to leak on them.

I just thought it would be a good idea to change the oil pan gasket since it has been on it since it was made and be able to clean out any gunk in the pan. The pan itself is fine, no dents, no cracks and nothing amiss about it If I don't need to, then that will be a relief and save a lot of money because the cheapest mechanic said that it would be at least $250 to do just the oil pan gasket

I dont remember any star bit to remove any of them, when I deleted my remote filter on my 93 slt jimmy (because the new lines end up leaking again anyways)
I thought it was just a couple 13mm bolts that held the adapter to the block and same with up front where the filter mounts as well.

To get the lines out and new ones in is not fun or easy, you have to lift the engine because most likely your engine mounts have started to sag.

to do the oil pan the front differential has to be dropped/removed

Okay, thanks for the help. I plan on taking it to the garage before long to take care of it. I have no idea how to drop the differential, so I will let someone who knows what they are doing do it for me. I may just go ahead and have the oil pan gasket changed anyway and clear out any goop that may have built up in the oil pan.

For the oil lines see:

https://blazerforum.com/forum/builds...-cooler-29968/

This is still a valid fix. Mine has about 10 years now without a single drop leaking.
Make sure the hoses are for mineral oil and temps of 150°C (300 F).

As for the mounting this could also be your setup:

That is correct for a second gen. We are talking about a first gen s10 blazer here.
