Default 1984 S-10 Blazer 4x4 5 speed won't crank

My running lights and dash lights stopped working about 2 weeks ago, turned out to be a blown fuse. The shop replaced the fuse and later that night they stopped working again. I took it back and they cannot find a short. Replaced fuse and they are working fine now. I have had the started rewired the ground for the battery rewired. In dash has had some rewiring done. Anyways, I was on my way to my buddies house and we took a shortcut through the desert. I put it into 4 high and about 50 yards later the truck just shut off. It does not try to crank and i don't have any power to anything besides my headlight/running lights. Ignition switch possibly? I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to the electrical. Also shortly before it shut off the check engine light appeared and then slowly dimmed out. Also before this happened when i would go to start it it would go to roll over and then die out. I would have to give it a little gas before it would start back up. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thumbs down

So it was not the main power wire to the starter. Not very good with eletrical so I just towed it to the shop. See what they have to say...So I guess a branch ****ed one of my fusible links up. Easy fix. $80 dollars for such a simple thing that I didn't see.
