1993 4.3L vortec vin"W" 4x4- Coolent Leak!
Hey guys, I did the dye thing, and it is leaking from some sort of plug (looks like the freeze plugs on the side of the block, can't tell if it is the same size) at the back of the block, forward of the flywheel. The blacklight got me to the area behind the flywheel, then I got the flywheel positioned with one of the big holes situated so I could get a mirror up in there and could actually see the coolent leaking out of a rusty spot on the plug (thank god for face shields!).
I guess my next move is to pull the tranny?
Any idea how long this might take?
Thanks

well i learned a long time ago not to put time limits on any project! Id say if your pullin ou the tranny, however long it takes you to remove the driveshaft, t.v. cable, shift cable, tranny lines, bell housin bolts, crossmember, (anything else im missin..long day)
oh ya be sure to drain the fluid first. depends on how skilled you are, its not too bad. we can always walk you through it step by step. its a two man job. best of luck and keep me up to date
