Angry 1993 S-10 Blazer fuel pressure/no start problems

Hi, My 93 blazer started acting up last fall, where it would run really rough, as in barely idle, and then it would die. Now the problem is that it won't even start.

The first problem turned out to be the fuel pump. I dropped the tank to find the electrical connector melted to the fuel pump. Replaced the fuel pump and connector and it ran, but seemed like it was severely low on power. It only ran for a few weeks and then quit starting all together.

So this spring so far I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator, and visually checked the fuel pump for melted connections. Everything seems fine in the tank. I put a fuel pressure gauge at the shraeder valve behind the intake manifold only to find a problem...

with the key at the on position the fuel pressure will immediately jump to 40 psi, and then quite rapidly fall until it reaches about 10 psi, then it will hold for a while. Inside the gas tank I also hear gurgling noises and a sound like pressure is leaking from somewhere... I know this is far from the required 55-61 psi... since the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter are brand new, and the fuel pump is nearly brand new I'm kind of running out of ideas as to what the problem could be...

could it be that i got a weak aftermarket fuel pump? I have also read about problems with split fuel supply lines in the tank, but i didn't see any splits in the lines.

I have heard something about pulsators going bad on the sending unit..and i'm not quite sure what those are.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a bad pump to me. Your fuel pressure is way too low (assuming you have a Vortec). As for the gurgling in the tank, you might have a bad pulsator or a split line. That would cause both the noise and the low pressure. The pulsator is the connection from the pump to the outlet line. I would drop the tank and pull the unit and if you could rig a test setup bench check it. I think the pulsators run about $20.00 from LMC. Here's the link. Keep us informed please.
