Default 1993 s-10 blazer runs like poo

i have a 93 s-10 4.3 blazer its a problem that started while driving it.it just started missing big time rough idle.has very hard time getting up on rpms runs great at about 4800 to 5000 rpm but any less and it runs bad have replaced plugs wires cap rotor(had to chizzle it off the distributor-RUSTED) fuel filter helped a little..
ck engine light comes on periodicley and the rig runs very rich all the time.. any idea. i was thinking it possibly bad ignition controll module or coil.???? and is the ignition controll module in the distributor

Did you check the code? If it's code 32 it's probably your EGR valve. Some times carbon gets in there and holds the pinion open.

If it's just a piece of carbon you'll see it, just take it out. I usually clean it the best I can with carb. cleaner, and clean out the port on the motor if there's a lot of build up. I always put a screened gasket on mine, they help a lot..You can get them on Ebay, and some auto parts stores carry them..Never found them with just the blazer gasket tho., they always come in a kit with a Ford AND GM gasket. At least that's all I ever found..

Yeah, the ignition module is in the distributor.
