Default 88 blazer s-10 trans problem

i just got an 88 s-10 blazer with 200k miles on it. it sat at the guys shop for a little while, and when he drove it home to show it to me, he said the trans was sliiping a little bit. i drove it around the block, and it wont come out of 1st gear. does anybody have any suggestions? i have another blazer that i was gonna take the trans out of and put it in the one i just bought. but i couldnt figure out how to get to the bolts on the top of the bell housing. i would really appreciate any advice on this, whether theres something i can try on the trans thats not coming out of first, or how to remove the other one. thanks

The best way I found, provided you don't have a lift, is to get one of those ratchet wrenches from sears. Get the straight one, not the angled one. Go from the top in the engine bay, but you might want to pull the distributor to give you more room... just mark off where the nub on the rotor sits to make installation easier. That is one way. I don't know if anyone else has an easier way.
