Default 88 K-5 Turn Signal Issue

I have been having an issue with my turn signal. When I turn my right blinker on and I only have to turn the steering wheel to 1 o'clock. When I turn the left blinker on I have to turn the steering wheel to about 7 o'clock.
What could be the issue?

I have replaced the turn signal switch and the cancelling cam in the steering column.
Could it be that my alignment is off? While driving straight down the road, the top of my steering wheel is at 11 o'clock.
Or could the previous owner have not connected the steering wheel correctly to the steering box?

I can not think of what else it could be. I am at a loss, any help or suggestions would be great!

Thanks

Sounds like something with the canceling cam is off inside the column. It has been a LONG time since I have had one of these old columns apart though... Have you tried disconnecting the steering shaft where it connects to the column at the firewall and rotating the steering wheel a tooth or two on the splines? From the sounds of it, you need to rotate the steering wheel clockwise a bit.

Just to be clear, you are referring to the part where it disconnects in the engine bay right by the firewall, correct?

Yes, where the intermediate steering shaft connects up to the steering column right at the firewall.

I took steering shaft apart from the column and there are not teeth. The connection is almost circular with two flat sides. Now the power steering box has teeth where the steering shaft connects to it but it too has a flat side.
Any other suggestions?

Hmm.. If that is the case, then you have to adjust the drag link to correct the steering wheel angle. This will not mess with your alignment.

I adjusted the drag link and that fixed it. I just wish I would have asked for advice before I bought the turn signal switch and cancelling cam.
Thanks so much for the help!
