Default weird turn signal/brake issue

sorry if this has been posted before, i looked and couldn't find anything all too helpful.

I have a 91 s10 Blazer 2wd, my left turn signal and brake light is fine, the right one however is not. When the headlights/parking lights are on the right turn signal light on the dash is lit when i flip the turnsignal it does not blink. if the head/parking lights are off it will blink on the dash and in the front, but not in back. and the brake light isn't working on that side either. Any suggestions at all would be appreciated.

My buddy told me something about the pigtail assembly...any merit to this?

I had a problem with my front driver side just like that. I cleaned the wire contacts and the rim of the hole that you place your bulb through. Fixed my problem. I was told that the rim acts kind of like a ground.
