'93 turn signal short.

Alright so it's not a Blazer, but my dad just came home with a '93 S10 ex-cab 4wd, and it's got a couple problems. The thing I need help with is the turn signal. When you push the brakes, the right front turn signal and indicator on the cluster come on. I know it's not a short with the tail lights, because it does it with the tail light harness unplugged (I had to remove it to fix a broken wire). What controls the lights? Is there a control unit somewhere, or is it just a series of relays? It's not the biggest problem with the truck right now, but it's a problem nonetheless. Any help highly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I do not have access to my 1st gen manuals at the moment, but...
On the 2nd gens, the turn & brake lights all go through the multifunction switch (turn signal stalk). A problem in the switch is often the cause of 2nd gen turn/brake light problems.

Yea, I got a hold of a friend in FL who works at a Chevy dealer, he said the same thing.
You see, what had happened was. My brother, bless his heart, thought the ignition was jammed because it wouldn't turn off. So he took a hammer to the side of the column to try and shut it off. >< He obliterated the turn signal cam and hazard switch. It didn't occur to me that it was that switch, because the lights were working fine before I took the wheel off to remove the ignition properly.
Turns out, there was nothing wrong with the ignition, it was the gear shift, you have to hold it up and forward into park for the key to turn off.
