Default Oh look it's me.

I'm having trouble with my truck…. searching the site and reading threads about fuel pressure. Then I see an answer from… ME? That's when I realize it's my old thread. lmao

Okay… skip skip skip ahead.

Oct 2012. I changed the spider earlier in this thread even though it wasn't the issue. After I did that work the truck never had the pickup it used to (rebuild from RockAuto).

I haven't been using the truck as much as I used to. Over the last few months, after the truck would sit a while it would run crappy for a bit, cough, sputter, then clear up. This week after a "sit" it didn't clear up. Running awful, sputtering, backfiring through the plenum, showing code 44.

I figured it was time to clean the EGR, but that wasn't it. I still had a spare TPS so I swapped that, no help. So I checked the fuel pressure just now;

Key on it goes up close to 60… then drops to zero. Well no wonder.
If the fuel pressure regulator isn't clearly leaking when I pull the plenum, is there any way to tell what the problem is? I'm know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'm wondering about trying a new FPR (and having that not be it) verses just replacing the whole spider again.

In an additional note, something I'm not real happy about;

I pulled it apart to find that three of the poppets had blown free of their clips (they were no longer clipped in place). One of them had actually blown out of it's hole, I assume from the backfiring, and was just loose on top of the manifold spray fuel wherever.

Now I can't tell what if anything is a leak and what's from that.

Can the FPR go bad and not be leaking?
