Newguy, not your fault at all, I knew going into this project that I was going to have to be very careful when doing my research online and I just didn't bother to check closely enough. But the new pump should be here tomorrow and as soon as I get some free time it's going in the tank.

Good to know about Bosch, I saw a few of them for sale but decided to go with ACDelco again... I can certainly vouch for the pump I already have: it's putting out exactly the right pressure it's supposed to (10-12 psi).

I'm in the same boat. Have to use starting fluid to start, but it starts and runs, hesitates when you give it gas but it will "catch up". When you kill it will not start again unless you use starting fluid. Seems like it is not holding the fuel pressure.

Tried the fuel pressure tester from AutoZone, screwed the fitting onto the test port and energized the fuel pump several times. Gauge is not registering.

Could it be the PO put the wrong style pump in? This is the W engine, would a pump from a Z engine have enough pressure to run it? OR would it created a problem like I am having?

Once you get it running, it sounds really smooth.

How else would it hook up? Just screws down on the Schrader valve right?

Gauge works...just starts at 10 psi. Is there another way to test the fuel pump? Other than getting a gauge that starts at a lower psi?

94_FoeDoe, sorry to hear of your issues. I don't feel qualified to even suggest what your problem might be but keep posting here until you find a solution.

I'm happy to report that today, my Blazer finally runs! After putting in the correct fuel pump, it fires up and runs like a champ. While down underneath of it, I noticed that the exhaust pipe is completely rusted through on one side, so that is at least one other issue that will need to be fixed soon, but the engine sounds very good. Thank you all for your help and support.

I'm pretty sure mine is the fuel pump also. Either it is about to die, or the PO put in the pump for the "Z" engine.
