fuel gauge not working

Default fuel gauge not working

alright yall i need some help on this cause im tired of guessing at how much gas i have lol....but anyway on to the problem, the day before i bought it, it was working, showing 1/4 tank, day i bought it, they filled it up for me...showed overfull, and has shown "overfull" ever since...

I'm gonna guess the float in the gas tank is stuck.

Could be.. run the tank down some and smack the bottom of tank with a 2x4, flatwise.

ive had the tank off and it moved just fine....could i be a fuse? or a loose ground?

If you can get ahold of some service information you can find the resistance values for the tank sender and check the resistance at various levels and see if it matches. That will give you the first clue about where the problem is. It could be with the gauge, with the sender, with the wiring, or somewhere else. Good troubleshooting will go a long way toward finding the problem and being able to correct it.
