I am not really sure about a Tahoe, but on a blazer its on the drivers side between the drivers door and the door behind the drivers door. Its up under the frame. If you peak your head under the frame between the two doors you will see it there. Its simply between two fuel lines. I would clamp both ends right before and after the fuel filter just to be safe. Then get a few rags and put them beneath you to catch excess fuel. Then just pull the fuel lines off the fuel filter from both ends and that should just about do it.

My lines on my 94 were all metal lines, at least within a few feet of either end of the fuel filter, so I relieved the pressure with the pressure relief valve, and unscrewed both ends, then screwed the new one on....it was very easy, about a 10 min job, and that was only because I had to wait for some of the excess fuel to stop dripping before I crawled back under there. Im not sure if your 4.3 is the vortec fuel injection, or TBI, or carburated, so Im not sure how yours went...but all in all it shouldn't be a very hard job at all. Like Nofear said, it is on the drivers side frame rail btw the two doors, and if you get under your vehicle about midpoint btw the wheels, you will see it, looks almost like a pop can, but all silver and pretty big. Be careful with the fuel, don't smoke or anything while you are doing it, and wait until your exhaust is cool so there is no chance of igniting the fuel that may drip out.

The vapors will ignite before the fuel will. That is why almost all welders will fill a gas tank before welding it. No air pocket no vapors to ignite. I have seen this done many of times. (forgot to add DONT TRY THIS unless your are exp. welder and know what you are doing. It can be very dangerous if you opps and get it too hot. cause then the gas itself will ignite)

Make sure to check for rot first, due to these fittings dont have any protections from the elements. Have two wrenches (forget the sizes) one for the filter and one for the line. Make sure to releave the pressure via under the hood at the releaf valve or it will spray all over when you undo the filter.

I pulled the fuse on my 2000 and the thing wouldn't even start to run the gas out.Any one else have a hard time changing their filter. Just not much room to work with that big **** bar in the way. Don't know if it's like that on older models.

Find the fuel lines coming into the engine compartment, i think it is attached right there. Not sure though.
