Hello BF I recently purchased a 1994 full size blazer The Liftgate did not have any struts but would open and close fine. I purchased the Struts from LMC truck, but they do not fit I worked with LMC tech support, but all they could tell is that I had the right part number.
Here is the problem: I have seen several blazers at the junkyard and on the street and the bolt that goes into the liftgate and that the strut attaches to, seems to be 3 to 4 inchs from the top of liftgate. My liftgate has the hole drilled 16 1/2 inches down.
Has anyone had this problem?? Do I have the right strut??? Is there another strut out there?

There were two designs. Yours looks like the 2nd design. Check out this schematic from compnine.com & look at the descriptions for the various item #85 pn's.
It looks like there are two positions for the pin on the gate itself. Are there other locations on the body of the truck for the other pin?
It might be worth the trip to the dealer for a VIN verification on these supports.
