Default need tips on getting colder air..

hey ya'll. ive been working on my "work in progress" and ive stumbled on another little issue.

first off, i love my truck. its my second one, and i think these things are made to withstand any and everything. with that said...

i have a 2.8l 88 blazer, and I have a mechanic friend of mine that has taken care of it. i had him look at the a/c and he did resolve some problems, but i still have some considerable problem with it.

the truck blows out somewhat cold air, only while the truck is moving, and in stand still traffic, its a sauna.

even while its moving, itll occasionally go hot, and cool up a bit. when i say cool, i mean something like 75 degree cool. nothing freezing.

the next thing is that i dont believe the car has a heater installed, and the a/c switches don't really do much other than if its in normal a/c or max a/c with the switch on full blast.

what do you guys recommend i do? ive checked the freon and it seems to be okay. i bought a big bottle of freon with sealant and filled it up.

any suggestions? thanks guys

So the fan is blowing on high but the air just isn't cold? Put the ac on max (recirculate) and the fan to high, you should have cold air coming out of the vents.
Did you add the correct freon?.. your Blazer uses R12 unless it was converted over to 134a. It could be overcharged... you need to get a set of ac gauges on it to see what's going on on both the high and low side in order to eliminate things like a clogged orifice tube, etc...

thanks for your input.

now you got me wondering!

the mechanic asked me to purchase the converted 134a w/ sealer, and thats what i put on it. i bought it @ advance auto parts, and it brought a gauge attached to the bottle.

i dont know if its overcharged because i kept it within range to what the gauge told me to do.

to answer, the fan is blowing on high, and the air is coming out of the vents loudly, but it fluctuates from hot to not as hot lol

You really need to get a set of gauges on it... I would run it by an ac guy to see what's going on pressure wise.
