Default Negative cable not grounded

1993 Olds Bravada with a 94 4.3L vortec just put in. It's been fine for a couple months after putting the new motor in, but yesterday I went to work, picked up the lady, and went to the bank, and when I came out, click. Everything else powers up fine. I went and checked the battery cables, wiggled em, and the big negative cable somehow isn't attached to anything. Needless to say, I think that may be my problem. However, I just bought a Haynes manual, have look all over the interwebz, and I can't find where the negative cable actually grounds too. It's still sitting in the bank parking lot, so any help ASAP would be much appreciated. Thanks

Usually the big ground goes to somewhere on the engine block. Intake bolt. Alternator bracket etc

Yea I know that it usually goes to the block somewhere, but I was hoping to put it where it originally belongs. Also, kind of on topic, does anyone know if those "ground distribution blocks" are beneficial at all?
