Default No Power...

When I first bought my truck about 6 months back you could barely hit the gas and the front would raise up and throw you back in your seat. Now its getting to the point to were Its taking alot longer to shift to 2 gear and its weak. I have changed the plugg wires, spark pluggs, Air filter,Fuel Filter Unit and all, and new tires. All this was done before the power started going down hill. I ended up cutting the Cat Converter off today thinking that would help seeing it was busted but really the only change is its idleing better. The temp on the motor is also starting to raise alot Its at 210 in less than 2 mins of driving. I'm stumped , I'm taking into the shop after I junk the converter and have them look it over. Any ideas on how to get my power back?

When was the last coolant flush, sounds like this might help cool the engine if it was replaced, also you may need to replace the thermostat. When you replaced the plugs and wires which brand and type did you use (ie. AC Delco Platinums) and what did you gap your plugs too? These are just a couple things that might help.

I mean the gap at the end of the plug you put in the engine between the elctrode and the insulator

If I remember right, when I got mine they were already gapped properly, but you should double check them before you put them in. They should be gapped to .60 inches. An inproper gap would cause bad spark resulting in loss of power and possibly fuel economy.

Mud in the radiator will cause cooling issues as well. Take a garden hose to the radiaotr and clean the fins really well.

Verify your plug gap. It changed over hte years and improperly gapped plugs will cause all sorts of performance and cooling issues. Mzkd xure your plugs are gapped properly for your engine.
