Default oil sending unit on cpi?

Scrolling down the road i look down to see a awesome 10 psi of oil pressure. 0 at idle. Slammed it in Neutral, key off,Pulled over, checked oil, oils perfect. I know it has pressure as the engines not making a bit of noise. Im guessing sending units bad. for kicks, Stopped by napa and got a wix filter (ruling out callasped filter). swapped it. Seems to be fine now but with ignition on the oil gauge pegs (bad ground?) on sensor.

So i might change it,but do to the fact it looks like i have to pull the distributor to get to it,i might install a mechanical and be done with it.

Isnt there a fitting near the oil filter i can use? I cant remember.

I tell ya,it scared the poo out of me when i noticed the pressure. Sucked.
