My 91 S10 has around 167,000 thousand miles. (rounded off cause I cant remember exactly ) Well everynow and then in the mornings when I have been driving for about 30 mins I will give it gas and it responds fine except that it sounds like water bubbling in the engine. Could it just be that it needs more time to warm up, or is the the start of something worse?

Check your radiator level. Many times this is an air pocket in the heater core due to improper coolant level. If you need to bleed it out, park with the nose up in the air and the side of the vehicle with the radiator cap on it up slightly higher than the rest of the radiator. Pop the cap and fill it up as necessary with the proper mix of antifreeze and distilled water for your climate.

 

It doesnt sound like air, wouldnt air be more of a rushing or whooping sound? It sounds like it is bubbling but then again I guess that could be the water in the radiator. thanks for the help.

 

Well, that's exactly it, the heater core is pretty close to the highest point in the system. If the level is low, then you could get some air into the heater core where it would be easily heard when you increase the speed of the engine quickly - ie. water pump pushing lots of water and possibly air through the system. The whole heater core would not be filled with air, only up towards the top.
