Default Tranny problems

Okay so I think I am having trany problems with my blazer. It is a 94 4x4 with 144k miles. It takes forever for it to shift out of first gear. It shifts when I hit 20 mph and then it slams into second. It's not really bad but it kinda whips you back. Also I have to add fluid about every week or two because it is low and starts to whine. There is no leaks any where. The guy I bought the blazer from said that the transmission has been rebuilt. What do you guys think that it might be?

Could be a number of things. Check out the 4L60E common problems thread in the Tech Article (DIY) section as well as run a search for "harsh 1-2" including the quotes and see what you think based on other threads on the subject.

You could be loosing transmission fluid into the transfer case if your transfer case input seal has a slow leak. Pull the fill plug on the transfer case. If fluid pours out, the input seal is leaking.

Yeah that sounds like that could be it. Is this something that if I don't get fixed that it could cause bigger problems?
