2000 trailblazer transmission dilema
2000 4.3 automatic 4x4 4L60E trans 161,000 miles
drove to work fine, left work no overdrive or drive just first and second gear.
no codes, fluid is pink not burnt and level is where it should be just had a filter and fluid change at about 150.000 miles it has 162,000 on it now
when i changed the trans fluid and filter there wasn't much sludge or metal around the magnet.
truck has not been off roading i am the second owner and i bought it with 109,000 miles my comute is 98% highway.
any clues?
thanks in advance

I had a problem in a 97, where it would slip BAD in overdrive, but was fine in 3rd for a little while. 3rd started to slip almost as bad as overdrive, but 1st and second held with no problems at all. I researched a bit and found that 3rd and 4th share a clutch drum, but an overdrive band clamped down on the outside of the drum, causing the planetary gear to no longer gear down, thus creating OD. If I had to guess, there is something wrong with the control for 3rd gear, be it a stuck solenoid, or broken spring in the valve body. It doesn't sound like anything detrimental to the tranny, but I am absolutely no expert on this.
