Default 2001 4x4 woes

I have a 2001 4x4. When I try to switch in 4lo, the light blinks and CONTINUES to blink. 4lo works fine. The 4hi light even continues to blink after I have shut the truck off and restart it. Also, the button that releases the rear window that is located on the tailgate doesnt work, but the button inside the truck does.

the 4wd thing could be a bad encoder motor.... or just the buttons are bad. as for the rear window hatch, i'm not too sure what is needed on those yet, dont have enough info on them.

I am looking at a 2000 Blazer with the same 4x4 problem. 4lo works fine but when you push the 4 hi button it just blinks and 4x4 does not kick in. Any suggestions? Should I buy this truck since it's really cheap and hope this is an easy fix?

the transfer case control module (TCCM) may have dumped. Mine quit a while back and had to replace it. Quite pricey

How difficult was it to change out the TCCM. I haven't really looked into the process or under the car yet to see where it's located, but I am needing to change out mine. Thanks.

The TCCM on a 2002 is behind the right hand kick-panel, but how can you possibly know you need to replace it if you don't know where it is? You need to access it to acurately diagnose it. If you are having the same problem as listed above, ground pin # 13 of your DLC and turn the ignition on....then count how many times the indicators flash on the 4x4 switch..(this does not work if you have a 4-button switch with AUTO 4wd..only do this if you have a 3-button switch) the lights will flash each stored code 3 times before moving on to the next code. After you retrieve the codes, disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes then reconnect it...it should clear the codes and start working again. Repost with your codes. It will be one or more of 4 different codes 1,2,3 or 4...just count the number of times it flashes between short pauses...it will flash each code 3 times with a short pause between each one and then a long pause and it will move to the next stored code if there is another one.

When it is blinking is it in gear, neutral or in park mine won't go into 4lo without it being in neutral, just a sugg.

I was going to change out my 4x4 buttons. I am having the same problem. I went to Autozone.com and found it on their website. You may also want to call the dealer or a local garage and have check oit out for you.

Hope this helps you out
