Default 2001 Blazer RKE

I just purchased a 2001 blazer. The dealer gave me a remote fob but said the previous owner couldn't get it to work, so I tried to program it to no avail. I thought maybe the battery was dead so I replaced it and tried again, still didn't work. Bought a new one from ebay, but it still won't program. I can get the truck to cycle the locks when I get to the program mode but when I hold the lock and unlock buttons, nothing happens. I do have the AU0 code in the glove box. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the remote matches the RKE module, mounted to the driver's side hush panel above your knees, on the back side of the panel. There is an FCC ID. It should match the one on your remote. They start with one of two things. KOBLEAR or KOBUL. Next, head to the parts store and test your remote(s) on their remote tester to make sure they transmit.

Thank you for the reply. I was under there today but I'm not sure 100% what I'm looking for. I will try to get back in there tomorrow and see what mine says.

there is a panel held in by 7mm screws. It's black, IIRC, and is the lowest part of the dash. Follow the dash towards your knees and the firewall. The final plastic piece before the firewall is the hush panel. Pull it off and turn over. Be careful pulling it off because the RKE module is attached to it and the connector needs to be unplugged. Unplug connect, and remove the panel.

Then compare the FCC ID on your key fob to the one on the RKE module.

I just did this modification myself this weekend. I had it before, but I locked up the donor BCM one day at work trying to update it through the GDS gm uses now. I picked up a new donor BCM Saturday. I think I've got to go back and get the SIR module, also. Last time, it set a code because the VIN doesn't match the one in the donor BCM, and thats what they use to "verify" it upon startup. So if u swap in the SIR module from donor truck, the problem is resolved.

just checked mine and the ID is KOBUT1XR. The number doesn't match either one of the ones that you gave me, could it be that someone has changed it from a different vehicle? And does the other number 15732806 mean anything or does just the KOBUT1XR have to match the remotes?

What you have is correct. I recalled it wrong. Sorry. KOBUT1XR should also be on the rear of your remote as well as the RKE module.
