2003 Blazer Knock Sensor
I got this message from an ex-GM service tech. Does this seem reasonable or was it just a bandaid to fix the sloppy timing chain rattle?
Dave,
There is a PCM update that will cure that problem. Unfortunately, you have to see the dealer to get it done. The PCM needs to be flashed or reprogrammed. Right now, the parameters for the knock sensor are too tight and the slightest noises set it off. The flash, among other improvements, loosens up the parameters for the KS to flag the code. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info on the OBDII code on my 2010 Impala, since this is a company provided lease vehicle the Chevrolet dealership is getting it on Wed. Just in case it was something ultra important I was asking.
If you know such things here is a code I get on my personal vehicle. 2003 Blazer 53,000 miles 4WD
PO327 Knock Sensor Circuit 1. Local mechanic shop not dealership first replaced the sensor, no help, then replaced the 4wd front transaxle things said gears were crunching and grinding causing the senor to flag. This solved the 4wd problems I had, but still the Knock code.
Same shop said lower end rod knock is causing sensor to trip. I don’t hear it and even if so I will drive till engine dies before putting an engine in it.
This winter in the cold the sensor did not flag, as soon as weather warmed up it trips the error and engine light. My code reader always logs it around 1800rpm and around 13% load. Not sure what all the other numbers mean.
When it happens. Engine is wormed all the way up, highway speeds letting off the gas coasting or just slowing down, always around 60-mpg when coasting slower. Never happened under a load only when coasting down.
Can a PCM have an issue causing this, or do you think there is actually a mechanical noise, or actual timing knock that might cause this. I have tried the highest octane of gas and no different.
Thanks for any opinion
