4 button 4x4 s4wd light
Well today I tried the tccm out of an 01 silverado, and same things happening... possibly the dash buttons or perhaps a bad wire? What do you guys think, the TC was completely drained of oil when it started yo act up, since then I've filled it up and cleaned the plugs to the tccm
Not really sure if they are compatible...
Is the 'Service 4wd' light on? If so, get the TCCM scanned. The code will give you direction.
Barring a code to give direction, you may want to start resistance checking all of the wiring between the switch & the TCCM, TCCM & encoder motor, and the TCCM & the speed sensors. All of the wiring information is in the NV236 thread in the Tech Article section. The resistance values to the switch should be as indicated in the tech article for no buttons pushed as well as for each button pushed and can be tested at the TCCM plug. The other resistances should be VERY low and should be checked with one probe of the multimeter at the TCCM connector & the other down at the encoder motor or speed sensor.
Another test is to check the encoder motor winding resistance when cold. Then try a shift & retest right away again. If the resistance goes up substantially, the motor in the encoder motor has a short and the encoder motor needs to be replaced.

If ya really think its the Switch (which I doubt), I have one that I will ship to you for the cost of shipping through PayPal. It is brand new in the blister pack from Help!/Dorman and looks as pictured below. I have no need for it just give me your zip for shipping price. lower 48 only.
Thanks for the info, my light only comes on after driving for atleast 2km... as far as the buttons go, it was just a shot in the dark, I really don't know what's wrong with the truck I'm not a mechanic, but I know enough to get by.
