97 blazer transmission issue

Default 97 blazer transmission issue

When i put it in nuetral it drives, but when i put it into reverse, it doesnt move, and only revs up to about 2k rpm, also drive and 1-3 all work, and i shifts fine.

When you put it in neutral it drives? Then your linkage is slightly off so when your putting it in reverse it is actually in neutral and not driving. Mine did this also until i drove it up on ramps and readjusted the linkage to it's proper positions for each gear now it works fine again but mine is a 93 and has a simple lock bolt on the linkage on the tranny for adjustment i dunno if the 2nd gens have the linkage bar and bolt or the cable system but either way sounds like it is out of wack and needs adjusted back to it's proper position on the column.

Yep, linkage is out of adjustment. Simple fix under the truck. After blocking the wheels to keep the truck from rolling around, put the shifter in neutral. Get under the truck and free the shifter adjuster and then put the transmission in neutral manually. Lock in the adjuster and you are done.
