97 Blazer won't shift out of park

I've done my research online, and everyone seems to be narrowing it down to a faulty brakelight switch. What I don't understand, is why does it affect the turn signals as well? Is there a relay I should be checking instead? A fuse? My brake lights work fine, but every time I have to override the solenoid, the signals don't work. Also, my 4 way flashers DO work. I just don't wanna go ripping my Blazer apart like I always have to every time something needs to be fixed.
Anyone have any similar experiences?

I'm confused what does any of that have to do with your blazer not shifting out of park?

Well, that's kind of my question man.
I understand the brakelight switch sends a signal to the shift lock solenoid, which then releases allowing you to shift out of park.
The thing is, every time this happens to me, the signal lights stop working. And sometimes I'll jump in my car the next day, and it WILL shift out of park and the signal lights DO work. So they are related somehow.
But my brake lights work fine, and so do my hazards. Did I clear this up a little better?
The fact that it works one day and not the next, means its not a fuse.

Well, decided to rip the interior apart, every panel, and poke around today to see what I could find. Turns out there's a cluster of wires behind the headlamp switches. There's six individual plugs plugged into the entire cluster. One of them was loose. As I was poking around I heard a click, and I looked down to see the shifter lock solenoid popping back and forth as I wiggled the wires. Once I got it to a point where it stopped returning to a locked position, and stayed in the unlocked position, I was able to shift the car out of park and the signal lights worked again as well.
Thanks for all your help!
