98 4-door rear glass lock troubles
#11
That relay is in the BBEC (body bussed electrical center) which is under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. I do not know how hard it is to get that assembly out to work on the relays. Here is a discussion about it which will be good for the location but not for the relay layout. That year has different relays. I found a discussion of your year and it list the liftgate relay as #1 but had no diagram. Let me know if you cant get to that assembly and we might have to go at this a different way. This would be best however because it makes fast work of eliminating half the possibilities:

I cant see or feel how it attaches itself.
I was forgetting to mention something as i didnt think it was a possible cause of this, but it might be. Just before this started, i changed my drivers side mirror and it was done prevoiusly before i picked it up too. They cut off the connector and the new wire colors didnt match , it didnt get hooked up. If this runs with the same relay as the glass switch, maybe its the reason behind this all.? Power mirror with a heat wire. But my blazer has no heated mirror option
NOW that I take another look at the picture. it seemed like that nut wouldn't come off. but that can't be right?

Since your having trouble getting to the relay another approach is to disconnect the actuator switches one at a time to see if the behavior stops. How many ways can the liftglass be opened on this vehicle? dash button, button or key at the rear gate, remote, ...?

there is no buttons on the dash. the key lock push button( pictured a few posts above) is the only way to open the glass. it will not open if the driver door is locked, because the key is the wrong one. I think this lock cylinder was changed previously. I'm talking about the same lock for the back glass

I see in that post that you removed the lock/button. If you disconnect the wiring from that button does the problem stop?
So you do not have a combination rear wiper control/liftgate glass button on the dash?

howdy folks, I think the lock on the tailgate was replaced in the past before I bought it. my key will not work on it. the very same day I order a keyless entry remote, the lock started giving fits. if it's latched and I start the blazer the rear glass lock repeatedly locks and unlocks with no pause
to stop it, I have to open the glass, it cuts it out after 5 seconds
what part do I need to change please, is it a bad actuator?
also if the keyless remote was an option, and if mine is not equipped, did I waste my money on the remote? or did all the blazers in 98 have them new.

welcome to the forum. I am sorry but I don’t understand your question, can you be more specific on what you need help with?
