Default 98 jimmy computer not recognized

truck runs great but can't get inspected cause the state scanners or any code scanner says you need to plug it into a vehicle. So none of them link up to my truck. The service engine light is on.
Any ideas on how to fix?

Check the fuse for the cigarette lighter since it also powers the OBD port.

Did you figure it out, I have the same problem, but have not looked at it yet?

Hey thanks for that. I checked all the fuses a couple weeks before I tried it and they where good, but between then and when I tried the scanner it did blow the fuse. Pays to check fuses first.

yes, cigerette lighter fuse was no good. I replaced it. Lighter works and then went to the advance auto part store to use their scanner. It communicated and showed the codes but I opt to clear the codes out. I did it a few times cuz really had no idea on how to use the scanner. Then I turn the key but not to start, taped the gas pedle 3X turn key off then turn the key again with out starting. My service engine soon light was out. Hope this helps but if I was you I still replace the fuse to the lighter cuz mine also looked good.
