The compressor took a crap in my 99 jimmy so I had the system evacuated and flushed. I bought a new delphi compressor and accumulator. I'm wondering if the auto adjusting tube is worth the extra 20 bucks? Has anyone ever used them? Thanks for any input!

Replacing the FOT, (Fixed Orifice Tube) with a VOV, (Variable Orifice Valve) makes a noticeable difference in AC performance especially in high ambient temps and or idling in traffic. Absolutely worth the money!
The FOT uses a stationary orifice, (the diameter is "fixed"). High ambient and underhood temperatures, along with poor air flow through the condenser & radiator, causes head pressure to rise. This causes refrigerant flow through the evaporator to increase and flood the evaporator, which causes register outlet temp to increase. The VOV automatically adjusts when the head pressure increases, reducing the refrigerant flow through the evaporator.

Yes, it will fit any GM vehicle equipped with a CCOT, (Clutch Cycling Orifice Tube) system. The VOV replaces the FOT. 10 minute job with no special tools, but it does require draining, (recovering) evacuating & recharging the system.
