Air Conditioner Case

Default Air Conditioner Case
Under the hood there is a case that encloses the Air Conditioner Unit,mine crumbles to the touch,is this a crucial piece?, if so has anyone replaced it and what sought of job is it, thanks.

what year vehicle do you have? That would help tons. Most people put that info in there signature to make it easier for us to get the basic info to answer the questions.

What part of the case is crumbling?

Mitakid...same deal on my 96. It crumbled away back in 2002. Never replaced it & it's been fine.The blower motor resister bolts are under the cover. When i went to replace the resister, the cover crumbled away.

I have a '95, and I was looking at it again and it seems like it would be a pain to replace, so like Bob..55 i will probably just leave it.

It is just an outer shell that serves to somewhat insulate the HVAC housing from the engine bay.
