Default air conditioner

I have a 00 blazer. The air quit working. It did get low in freon, but has been refilled. The compressor will not engage. I can force it to engage by running a direct wire to the compressor and it will cool properly. I have check the fuses and relays in the fuse panel. Any suggestions. Is there a reset procedure after freon got low?

Was the compressor running when you filled the system?

There is a relay and fuse under the hood of my 98. Look in the owners manual for location.

I was able to direct wire compressor and have it running in order to add the freon and it cooled good. I have checked the relay located in fuse box. My next place it seems is the vehicle control moniter. I can't locate this.

Check about 5 pages back on the previous post pages. I had an AC problem earlier and got some good replies there.

There is a pressure transducer that will disable the compressor clutch when either too high or too low of pressure is sensed. It is quite possible that your transducer has simply gone bad. If you jumper the terminals on the transducer and your compressor turns on, then your transducer is probably bad. Replace it and see how it goes.

When you topped off the system, did you only put it back into the proper operating range? An overcharge will do the same thing as a low charge (compressor clutch wise).

Good luck and let us know!

Yes it was topped off to proper range. I had the compressor running as I added the freon. Thanks for the help!

There could be a problem on the cycling switch. It's located (usually) on the accumulator. The aluminum can at the outlet of the evaporator. Remove the wiring harness and check for voltage. You should have 12v on one side of the harness. Then jump the harness to check for compressor operation. If that works, then the switch is faulty. Let us know how you make out.

Werd on that...that actually happened on my truck once...it was just a bad connector on the accumulator making the compressor engage on and off wildly...new plug, compressor is like a champ now...
